FAQ

What are the minimum care hours that Intrust Care will provide?

We can provide a minimum of 2-4 hours of care per week. This can be split into days and times to suit you, in either 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 1 or 2 hour calls. Sadly we aren’t able to provide less than 30 minutes of care per call.

Would you provide me with just one call a week?

Yes, of course. We’ve previously had clients needing help to do their weekly laundry, or support to have a weekly shower instead of their daily wash.  As long as the call fits into our minimum hours’ requirement, it doesn’t matter that it’s only once per week.

Will I see the same carers?

We believe in continuity of care, and wherever possible aim for you to see the same carers each time. Unfortunately, there will be times where you will see different faces due to the number of daily visits, and also due to staff sickness and holidays.

Am I able to get a set time for my visit?

Wherever possible we will keep your call to the same time each day, or each week. If your needs change we may have to adjust the time of your call, but this will always be discussed with you first.

Are your staff trained?

All of our staff have in-house medication and manual handling training (using equipment such as hoists), before they go out into the community. Our staff also complete mandatory training that covers the 15 standards of care and Dementia awareness. If you have a condition that requires very specific skills to be learned (such as tracheostomy care), we will also get our carers trained by outside bodies (such as Addenbrookes Hospital) in these specific areas of care.

Do your staff have DBS checks?

Rest assured that every member of staff has had a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, and has provided satisfactory references, before going out into the community.

What needs to be provided for Live in Care?

If you are interested in having a live in carer, there are certain criteria that need to be met. There must be a spare bedroom available for the carer, with space to store their belongings. You will also need to provide food for the carer. This can be nice, as it gives you an opportunity to share meals together if you wish to do so.  The minimum duration of live in care that we are able to offer, is 1 week.

Do I have to pay for the assessment?

Absolutely not. Whether you decide to use our care services or go with another care provider, we will not charge you for your initial assessment.

Where can I find help for funding?

For information and advice on funding your care, please visit our cost of care page.

Do I have to pay for my care upfront?

No, you do not need to pay for your care in advance. Invoices are sent one month in arrears, either by post or e-mail, whichever is your preference.

Can I cancel my visit without being charged?

Yes, of course you can. We understand that you may need to adjust your care package from time to time. Whether that’s due to a medical appointment, a period of respite or a holiday, as long as you give us 48 hours’ notice, you will not be charged.

If you have further questions, please call us on 01908 380 600 and a member of the team will be more than happy to answer these for you.
